AVA Expands Services for Crime Victims with New Mobile Unit
Atlanta Victim Assistance (AVA), a nonprofit organization that provides support to victims of crime in Atlanta, is expanding its services with its new Community Care Unit (CCU), a one-of-a-kind mobile unit that offers victims a safe onsite healing space immediately after a crime, allowing them to decompress, process their experiences, and receive services and referrals. The CCU—which was funded by a grant from Impact100 Atlanta— will also be used as an educational resource that will be available at various community events to showcase AVA’s wide-ranging services, and to offer attendees information and a confidential reporting space if they’ve been the victim of crime and want help.
“In our 40 years of serving Atlantans, we’ve delivered tailored programs and services to empower more than 150,000 victims of crime and their families to become victors, equipping them with the support needed to heal and thrive,” Brunson-Wright said. “This new unit increases our capacity to offer even more people immediate comfort, support, and help when they need it most.”
