Honoring Excellence: AVA Advocate Recognized by APD
We are proud to celebrate Rose Joseph, a Zone 1 advocate, who was recently honored with an Excellence Award from the Atlanta Police Department—making her the first advocate ever to receive this distinction from APD.
Rose was recognized for her critical role in providing life-saving support to a victim of domestic violence, a powerful reminder of the difference advocacy can make in moments of crisis. Her work reflects the compassion, professionalism, and steady presence that advocates bring when individuals are navigating some of the most difficult moments of their lives.
Through Atlanta Victim Assistance’s partnership with APD, trained advocates are embedded in all six police zones across the city. This collaboration allows advocates to respond quickly and with care in the immediate aftermath of a crime—meeting victims where they are, listening first, and connecting them to vital resources and ongoing support.
We are deeply grateful for our partnership with APD and incredibly proud of Rose for this well-deserved recognition. Her dedication is a testament to the essential role advocates play in building safer, more compassionate communities.
